Recruiters Are Not the Whole Story
A recruiter is there to get seats filled. Some are honest, some leave out the ugly parts, and some talk like every driver is going to make top money immediately. Your job is to slow down and compare the details.
- What does training actually look like?
- What freight will you run?
- How often are drivers really home?
- How is pay calculated?
- Are there contracts or repayment obligations?
Know the Type of Work
OTR, regional, and local jobs are different lives. OTR may be easier to get as a brand-new driver, but it usually means more time away. Regional can be a middle ground. Local jobs can be harder to get fresh out of school and may have their own pressure.
Your First Company Is a Starting Point
The first company does not have to be perfect. It needs to be safe enough, stable enough, and structured enough for you to build experience without wrecking your record.
Practical Takeaway
Pick the company that gives you the best chance to learn safely and build a clean record, not the one with the prettiest promise.
